Dear Friend,
For years, people have sent letters requesting
my mother's cookbook. It had been out of print for years and
my mother had passed away on Christmas day in 1997, but the letters
kept coming with stories of how much they loved the book, and
how the book was treasured in their family for great recipes.
It was one letter in particular that persuaded us to reprint
the cookbook. It was a letter from a grandfather, wanting to
purchase a copy for his granddaughter who wanted to be "a
cook, a good cook." You can view some of the many letters
we have received online.
With the help of my daughter and son, our
family has reprinted my mother's cookbook and saved these wonderful
recipes which might have been lost, for a new generation of families
to enjoy.
One person wrote how 'Cooking in Upcountry
Pennsylvania' is so much more than just a cookbook. My mother
included her story of growing up in Scotia Pennsylvania and snippets
of local history. We invite you to read a few sections of the
book to get a glimpse of the touching story of Mom Mom's life
as a simple girl in a small town.
Thank You,
Nancy Haney Reifinger
