Dear Mrs. Ryerson,
I've been meaning to write to you since 1986 where we were
living in Texas. Let me start at the beginning.
We (my husband, daughter and I - my son was in college) had
to move to Bath, PA from Indiana because my husband was transferred.
While in Bath, we drove to Sciota, and met you and bought your
cookbook (which you autographed for me). I treasure this book!
I have collected recipes for 30 years, but yours are the recipes
I go back to over and over!
My husband's company went out of business and we went back
to Texas and built a Cafe which we owned and operated for a few
years. Fifteen restaurants went bankrupt around us, but we managed
to keep it afloat. My husband credit's my pies (your recipes)
with saving us! Later we sold the Cafe and moved to Arizona and
I continued to make my pies and sell them.
In January of 1988, my daughter gave birth to her little "love
child" and because of your beautiful story in your cookbook
we helped our daughter decide to keep her baby and we are still
letting them live with us. We are so glad the Lord blessed us
with this beautiful granddaughter.
I'll bet you never realized that you helped a whole family
survive, put a son thru college and even make an important decision
affecting a little baby's life. Whenever I look at little Lauren,
I think of you. Thanks so much for sharing your recipes and your
life with me!
Stay Well, I love you,
Gwen
To Mrs. Mildred Haney Ryerson,
A friend lent me her copy of your cookbook for a few days
and I enjoyed it so much that I would like to have a copy of
my own. Is it possible to still order a copy?
Thank You,
D. Schuler Brockport, NY

Hi!
I just wanted to let you know that I received the cookbooks.
What a wonderful book! I thought I'd just take a peek, then got
so wrapped up in the introductory section that I kept reading
for half an hour! It's so much more than a cook book. Nancy,
you were so fortunate to have such a gifted mother, and you were
so wise to make the cookbook available again. I noticed that
some of the recipes were ones that my mother made when I was
growing up. That's not surprising given that Mom lived her whole
life in western PA and hod a lot of Pennsylvania Dutch influences.
I'm sure I'll be in touch with you again to purchase more
cookbooks in you have any left. I'm thinking of Xmas gifts...
Thanks! L. Loisal

Dear Mildred,
A few years ago I purchased several of your cookbooks, one
for myself and others for gifts. I am very pleased with your
book. I have worn the cover off of mine from using it so hard.
If it is still possible to get the books from you I would like
to order again. Thank you ever so much. I really enjoy all your
recipes and your style.
Sincerely,
Sandy Wolfe

Dear Nancy,
I cannot resist wanting a copy of your Mother's cook book
"Cooking in Upcountry Penna. " I do remember the delicious
pies at Beseckers - always an incentive to stop there. The 90
pies recipes mentioned sounds great.
What a nice tribute to your mother to give others a chance
to enjoy her recipes. I am ordering two books one for my daughter
and one for my oldest granddaughter who is getting married in
October.
Sincerely,
Mrs. L Friese

Dear Nancy,
I received the two copies of your mom's cookbook in excellent
condition. It is interesting to read all about her beginnings
and the area as well. I know my granddaughter will appreciate
it.
I am requesting two more copies for two of my neighbors who
do many favors for us. I know they will enjoy using it. It will
be our way of saying thank you for caring.
Sincerely,
Mrs. L Friese

Dear Nancy,
Read about your mother and her cook book in the Pocono Record.
What a wonderful strong lady..reminds me of my mom who will be
84 in August. The life that they had and all they did and do..unreal.
We come from great stock. Its great isn't it. Thanks for publishing
the cook book. I would love to have one. Thank You.
Sincerely Yours,
M Kruk
Dear Nancy,
Thank you for the cook book and history about Mom's childhood.
Wonderful! I couldn't put it down and now we will take a trip
to the area...My mom and your mom could have exchanged old stories.
How close their childhoods were. I will treasure the book. Thank
you.
Yours Truly,
M, Kruk

Dear Nancy,
...I'll bet your mother's cook book won't be sending me to
some exotic food store to search for some ingredient found only
in the big city. I'm sure it will have wonderful ingredients
found in the average kitchen. I'll keep her memory alive when
I pass the cook book down to my daughters.
Thanking you in advance.
S. Tomlingson
Dear Nancy,
I was delighted to receive your letter (about the reprint
of the cook book). Please send me a copy of the cook book...Your
mother's book is very unique with down to earth recipes and you
can tell love is put in each one.
Best Wishes,
S. Wolfe
